Kirknewton House Stables got to be one of my favourites venues in Edinburgh and the place where Fiona and Graeme chose to have their autumn wedding. What I like the most about this barn with beautiful gardens is that it can be the perfect canvas for a creative couple like these two. They both are avid readers who wanted to bring their passion for fantasy books into their wedding day, and with Fiona being a crafty person they managed to turn an empty room into a true expression of themselves. Throw in a few fairy lights (with help from Graeme’s brother) and the warm smiles and support from family and friends, and you have the perfect celebration in a Scottish autumn day. They even got their dads involved in the design and colouring of their wedding invitations in a truly Quentin Blake’s style. Did I mention that this guys love books, right?
They are shy people who were a bit worried about having their photos taken, so Alex and I arranged to meet them a few weeks before for a pre-wedding shoot at the Hermitage of Braid and Blackford Hill. We spent an afternoon exploring a pretty spot of Edinburgh, chatting about their wedding still to happen and trying to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera. As you can see, they had nothing to worry about. Here is their wedding day in pictures:
